Honkai Impact 3rd: Crystal Farming Guide

Honkai Impact 3rd is an immersive and fun free-to-play action RPG title but it’s also a gacha game. And like most gacha, you’ll need in-game currencies to roll for your favorite Valkyrie. For this game, that currency is in the form of Crystals.

You can spend real money to get these crystals and then use them on Loot Boxes that could net you a powerful Valkyrie, their battlesuits, and even rare weapons. In hindsight, spending too much money may not be wise at all. It’s a good thing the devs offer alternative ways to get crystals without spending anything. Here are some of them:

Journey Into The Game’s Main Story

One surefire way to get crystals in this game is to progress through the main story. Finishing a chapter will reward you with the currency. You can also learn more about the game’s lore and watch its beautifully crafted cutscene animations. In fact, adventuring through the story also gives you enough experience to level up your current valkyries fast, making them more powerful.

Another way to get crystals alongside story completion is to complete side-objectives. These missions are minor challenges you can fulfill while you’re out in the field. Once you complete all of the objectives, you’ll be rewarded with a small number of crystals in turn.

Dailies Give You Free Goodies

On top of story progression and side-objectives are Daily Tasks. These are limited assignments that have a time limit of 24 hours. They are more diverse than side missions and might include some upgrade requests to fulfill. However, no assignment is too menial if you want crystals.

Academy Missions & Energy Leaks Are a Must

Being a captain of the Hyperion is a serious job. In fact, you’ll need to attend the academy if you want to prove yourself a worthy commander for the valkyries. Moreover, finishing Academy Lessons are easy ways to acquire crystals in the game without doing anything complicated. So make sure to drop by the academy now and then.

Lastly, you’ll need to watch out for Energy Leaks. These are time-limited minor events that appear randomly on different levels. Finishing a level with the Energy Leak icon on it will reward you with the shiny, blue Crystal currency.

One final word of advice from one captain to another. Obtaining these crystals can be grindy– so we suggest spending them wisely. Though the game is generous enough to give you some via login rewards, it’s still best to use them when a “Rate Up” is active. And there you have it, we hope this little guide will help you with your battle against the forces of Honkai. You can test it out for yourself by playing it on your PC completely free!
